| Glad to hear there also will be summer weekend service for 2010! Can anyone confirm for me whether or not bicycles are allowed onto the ferry. While I understand that bike lock-up options appear to be available at the ferry docks, I would rather be able to bring my bicycle with me to ensure accessibility when it is needed. I cannot find any information on this on the forum. Thanks! |

| We love the ferry idea and used it during my vacation, but I can't use it since working in midtown until 6pm. If only there were a 7pm ferry from Manhattan... Actually, when we had guests during my vacation, we could stayed longer in the City if there were a later departure time, also. 6:30 or 7pm from Wall St. would be perfect all around. |

| Hello all, We are very happy to report that the Rockaway Ferry’s Summer Weekend Service will be in operation again this year!!! Service will be running throughout Labor Day Weekend, September 7, 2009. For those of you who are new to the area, we recommend you visit the National Parks Service’s web-site at nps.gov/gate for information on special events, and other happenings. Some of the activities available are… fishing, sunbathing, cycling, bird watching….just to name a few. Also, in response to those requesting additional evening runs and adjusted run times, please know that we routinely reevaluate our service, and are taking all actions possible to insure that we best meet the needs of our commuters. It continues to be our hope that the demand for this service increases to a level where implementing additional vessels and/or runs will become financially feasible, in the very, very near future. Thank you for visiting the Rockaway Ferry Forum. We hope you have the opportunity to enjoy our ferry and the Rockaway area. Have a wonderful summer! The Rockaway Ferry Team… :) |

| We need a later boat in the evening for those of us who work in midtown. The reality is that it takes at least 45 minutes to get to Wall Street from Midtown. Please add a ferry at 6 P.M. even 5:45 would be better. 5:30 is not feasible for people leaving at 5:00 on the dot from midtown. Thanks. | |

| It's so great that this ferry exists, but there are no realistic return times for those of us who do not have bank or market hours. Can we lobby in support of the folks who do not have 8-4 or 9-5 jobs? I know times are tough, but it seems that just one more in the evening would make the ferry a realistic route for a lot more people... and the MTA hikes and cuts will make it even that much more attractive. I know there have been earlier posts on this topic - has there been any movement? To whom should we appeal for increased service? |

| Hi - I'm one of the many who would use the ferry if the hours were right. My usual hours are generally 8am - 6pm. In the morning, 5:45 gets me there WAY too early - public transportation is cheaper and I can still get an extra hour's sleep. In the evening - I can make the 5:30 boat maybe once or twice a week if I am lucky. I think if there was a 6 am and an 8 am boat, you might get a few more people. In the afternoon, a 4p.m. and a 6 p.m. boat would make it easier for a lot of people as not too many people int he financial district leave at 5pm on the dot anymore. My opinion - you change the hours slightly and you will see increased ridership. Just my 2 cents. | |
